Yuhan Wang presented her Spring 2025 collection at London Fashion Week, showing a juxtaposition of romanticism and sport. The crossover of sport and fashion has been ever-increasing of late – Lewis Hamilton collaborating with Dior, LVMH signing a 10-year sponsorship deal with Formula 1, the enduring appeal of tenniscore, and the subsequent revival of Lacoste that this is bringing about – though such revival is equally, if not more, attributable to the modern designs of Pelagia Kolotouros.
Back to Yuhan Wang and the Spring 2025 collection at hand. Her boxers wear gloves in pastel colours and trimmed in lace. They wear bodysuits with shoulders covered in fabric flowers, socks made of lace, and frilly skirts. Other sports also appear – the lacing from a baseball glove appears down the front of a blue bodice, a crop top with American Football-style shoulder pads is overlaid with flowers, and a baseball shirt is worn over a delicate crop top with a cute kitten print.
It veered on the incohesive at times, but the delicate aspects in the pieces were unmistakebly Yuhan Wang, and it was a collection very relevant to the current fascination with the fusion of sport and fashion.
